About: Dr. Rutayisire François Xavier is a dedicated Senior Neurosurgery Resident with over 6 years of progressive clinical experience in Rwanda. Passionate about advancing neurosurgical care and has actively contributed to academic research with several publications in the field. In 2024, he gained international recognition as the first African doctor to receive an honorary award at the NEURO-2024 International Neuroscience Congress in Tbilisi, Georgia, for his research on peripheral nerve repair. In May 2025, he served as a Faculty member for the African EANS Training Course Muhimbili Neurosurgery and Orthopedic Institute (MOI) in Dar es Salam, Tanzania. Beyond the operating room, Dr. Rutayisire is committed to global health education – he is the founder of a popular health blog initiative “Baza Muganga,” using online platforms to educate the public on medical topics. He combines strong surgical skills with excellent communication and leadership abilities, making him an asset to both clinical teams and community health projects.
